WALT: solve multiplication problems by using place value partitioning

39 x 16 =
10 x 16 = 160
10 x 16 = 160
10 x 16 = 160
9 x 16 = 144
160 + 160 + 160 + 144 = 624

39 x 16 =
30 x 10 = 300
30 x 6 =   180
9 x 10 =     90
9 x 6  =      54
300 + 180 + 90 + 54 = 624

maths

1. 39 x 5 =195
10 x 5 = 50
10 x 5 = 50
10 x 5 = 50
9 x 5 = 45
50 + 50 + 50 + 45 = 195

maths

76 x 9 = 684
10 x 9 = 90
10 x 9 = 90
50 x 9 =450
6 x 9 =54
90 + 90 + 450 + 54 = 684

1. 54 x 10 = 540                                                 2 . 82 x 9 =738
                                                                            40 x 9 = 360
10 x 10 = 100                                                     40 x 9 = 360
10 x 10 = 100                                                     2 x 9 = 18
10 x 10 = 100                                                     360 + 360 + 18 = 738
20 x 10 = 200
4 x 10 = 40
100 + 100 + 100 + 200 + 40 = 540

Maths

1. 22 x 7 = 154
10 x 7 = 70
10 x 7 = 70
2 x 7 = 14
70 + 70 + 14 = 154

There are 8 pencils in a box. Aj has 15 boxes of pencils. How many pencils are altogether?

15 x 8 = ??

10 x 8 = 80

5 x 8 = 40

80 + 40 = 120

To solve this problem, I used place value partitioning. I multiplied 10 by 8 and I got 80 as the answer. Then, I multiplied 5 by 8 and I got 40 as the answer. Then I added 80 and 40 and I got 120. So AJ has 120 pencils altogether.

This year I am in room 10 again and my teacher is Mr. Nath. I am in year 6 now. I am very happy to be
back in room 10 because I am with my friends.

My goals for this year is to play more sports and get better at maths and be a better person.

I would also like to learn about history and play different sports.

Glenbrae school is going to the Auckland museum. there is 190 students 1 bus can carry 25 people how many bus do they need to hire.

25 = 1 bus
50 = 2 bus
75 = 3 bus
100 = 4 bus
125 = 5 bus
150 = 6 bus
175 = 7 bus

there are 15 students left so they go on another bus so that leaves us with 8 bus to hire.
